Calvin Natt — former NBA all-star and Denver Nugget — now buries the babies.

Denver Post Dec 07,2008

There have been nine since he started his fledgling nonprofit group All for One-One for All in 2006.

They have included a 5-day-old girl who died after the umbilical cord cut off oxygen to her brain. Another died from leukemia.

A 2-year-old suffered horrific burns in a Commerce City house fire, while another was so mangled by an 18-wheeler that her parents couldn't recognize her.

When the children are gone, their parents are left with drained emotions and bank accounts.

"Some have sold their houses, gone into foreclosure," Natt said. "Some mothers sell their wedding rings in the hope Continue Story....

Natt working to help less fortunate

Denver Post, December 25,2005

Calvin Natt brought joy to Nuggets fans for four-plus season. Now the 1985 all-star forward is hoping to spread joy from the pulpit as a minister and bring help to the needy through his nonprofit organization.

“My ministry and nonprofit organization is more rewarding than basketball,” Natt said. Natt recently became a minister at New Hope Baptist Church and preached for the first time Oct. 23. He said he received a minister's license Oct. 30 and eventually hopes to become ordained. He also is working on getting a mortuary science degree from Arapahoe Community college . “We all hope we will go to an eternal place,” Natt said. “There is another life after Continue Story....

Which is why some find it hard to believe the former Nuggets all-star has immersed himself in the sympathy business.

Calvin Natt Family Mortuary is scheduled to open in Denver at the end of this month. Continue Story....

From baskets to caskets

Rocky Mountain News

Only two things in life are certain – death and taxes – even for a professional athlete.

When former Denver Nuggets forward Calvin Natt retired from the National Basketball Association in 1990, launching a low-cost funeral home seemed like a sure bet.

The results are the 2,000 square-foot Calvin Natt Family Mortuary, 1751 York Street , set to open May 1.

I didn't graduate from college with a degree in business so I could have ended up selling cars or insurance after my pro-ball career,” said Natt, now 35 years old.

“Instead of running a mortuary, I could have opened up a liquor store or a nightclub, but that wouldn't have helped people in need. Offering affordable funeral services is just my way of staying involved in the community.” Continue Story....
